Match Report

15 anglers turned up for the first match on Petworth Park this year on a very hot sunny day. Reports had been received that fishing had been hard and even the lake expert Kevin Leighfield had struggled when he fished there earlier in the week. Fish proved elusive and 6 anglers left before the end of the match. The match was pegged along the roadside bank and behind the two islands although all the winning weights came from the roadside pegs.

Vinny Collier caught 4 bream for 14 – 1 – 4 on the pole and feeder to win the match. However he lost 4 others which would have given him a weight in keeping with the norm for Petworth Park.

Rother’s Steve Worth, who has joined the club, again finished in second place as per his last visit with 1 bream, 1 tench and bits for 13 – 0 – 0. He was fishing for silverfish using the top 3 of his pole when he hooked and landed the good sized tench on number 3 elastic.

Keith Hughes had a mixed bag fishing meat on the pole close in. He caught single bream, tench and crucian carp for 8 – 13 – 4.
