Match Report

This match was scheduled for the River Rother at Fittleworth, but due to the amount of rain on Friday, the river was dangerously high, pushing through and very coloured. It was decided to move the match to Petworth Park rather than reschedule for a later date.
The lake was a very similar colour to the flooded river and the anglers who turned up anticipated a hard match. It was decided to peg along the east bank only, leaving the more favoured swims by the lillies for any pleasure anglers who arrived later.

First was Steve Jeffery who was on peg five, just past the concrete slab. Steve started on the feeder for the first half an hour but only had one small tweak on the tip. A switch to a pole line, fed at the start, was also very slow and took about an hour and a half to get a positive bite which resulted in a small roach. Two Bream followed in the next half an hour and then the fished disappeared again. Staying on the pole for the rest of the match, Steve caught a further two Bream, two skimmers and a three small Roach. All his fish were caught on single red maggot.

Second was Phil Thomas who fished the feeder for the majority of the match and caught three Bream, one skimmer and a few bits.

Third was Steve Beadell who was drawn on the concrete slab where he persevered with the feeder all the match, this paid off with two good bream landed with sweetcorn and pellet as hookbait.
