After nearly a week of overnight frosts sport was expected to be slow and it certainly was for this second leg match which was again fished as a friendly against Portsmouth & District Angling Society.

On Stemps Pond Keith Hughes drew peg 14 and fished as close to the island as he could with his pole and decided to fish for the carp that hang around the island. Keith manged to hook six and land three, with a few small roach and skimmers for his winning total.

Second was Steve Simmonds, drawn on peg 2, he also decided to fish the pole to the island for the carp. Steve landed one and lost one very early on in the match, but then the island swim died so he concentrated on the waggler, catching small roach.

Third was Rab Butler, drawn on peg 7 who caught small roach and skimmers fairly steadily throughout the match, Rab used the pole at ranges between six and ten metres.

CART POND RESULTS

WINNER Tim Coombes (PDAS) 5 – 11 – 0
RUNNER-UP Vince Herringshaw 3 – 11 – 0
THIRD Alan Templeman (PDAS) 1 – 5 – 0

Tim Coombes was drawn on peg 24, on the end of the island and fished towards this with the pole and caught small roach and two good sized skimmers for his winning weight.

Second was Vince Herringshaw, drawn on peg 28 and decided to fish the waggler. Vince was struggling for bites , but when he did get one it would be a better roach of 3-6 ounces. Vince caught enough for second place.

Third was Alan Templeman, who was drawn next to Vince on peg 28. Alan caught small roach on the pole.

As for the Trophy, the final result could not have been closer. Keith Hughes, Rab Butler and Steve Simmonds all ended up on 18 points. Keith Hughes had a better weight advantage over Rab Butler by 4 ounces, so therefore wins the Jubille Cup.
