Match Report

Again we were met with a grey very cold day with a bitterly cold wind blowing across Stemps towards pegs 7-13. Only 6 hardy (or mad) anglers turned up and the top six pegs according to Steve Simmond’s list were used. The temperature did not go up during the day and it stayed so cold that Steve Simmonds packed in early as his hands were so cold he could not put maggots on his hook. The farmer had made major efforts to sort out the flooding on the access path and this made it slightly easier to get across to the lakes.

Steve Hanson, fishing peg 2, won the match with 3-11-0 caught on the long pole. This consisted of a carp, caught close to the island along with small roach.

Closely behind in second place, on peg 15, was Mick Greenway with 3-9-0. He caught numerous very small roach on bread punch close in coupled with a carp and slightly better roach caught at 11 metres on the long pole using maggots.

In third place with an all roach catch was Steve Speller on peg 1.
