We fished our first Sunday match on the canal of the season fishing from Hunston up towards the city. Although there was very little wind to start with a breeze got up during the match, which put quite a drift on the water making light presentation quite difficult. We also had the boat running up and down quite regularly which did not cause many problems but a succession of extremely amateur canoeists didn’t help particularly as they decided to stop in our swims.

Mark Pantling our new rising start was pegged just below the big tree on the tow path. This are always seems to produce a good bag of mainly skimmers and Mark found a fair number of them which together with a few roach and other bits and pieces gave him a winning weight of 12 – 2 – 0.

Vince Herringshaw was pegged on the ‘gate’ swim just where the trees start on the far bank and he also found skimmers and roach for 8 – 6 – 0 for second place.

Steve Simmonds was pegged much close to the bridge with the bench behind him. He elected to fish hemp and tares and weighed in just over 6lb of roach with one or two better fish of around the 1/2 lb mark among them.

Unfortunately I completely forgot my camera so no pictures this week. I have mentally slapped my wrist and will remember for the next match.
