8-2-8
Runner Up:  Keith Hughes
7-8-8
Third:  Mike Kitchener
3-7-8

This was the first day match of the season on one of our waters. Hopes were high of reasonable weights following the good catches in the evening match on this water. However the warm sunny weather and the fish being more interested in spawning resulted in low weights with few carp, bream and tench being caught. There were two juniors fishing this match – Ollie Kitchener, who had fished the first match at Sumners Pond and Cody Hughes, Keith Hughes’s Grandson who is younger than Ollie and becoming a dab hand with his whip.

In first place, fishing Peg 3 was Glen Riley on one of his occasional attendances at our matches. He used the long pole to catch a bream (2-2-0) and 2 carp to weigh in 8-2-8, also winning the Golden Peg monies which had been carried over from last season.

Keith Hughes was sharing Peg 7 with his Grandson Cody and caught a bream, a carp and a tench plus bits on the long pole to weigh in 7-8-8 and take second place.

The second leg of the Milliard cup is scheduled to be fished at the Granary in August.
