Match Report

16 turned up for this match on yet another grey Sunday. Again there had been a lot of rain in the previous week and the path to the lakes was like a swamp and provided a challenge for the anglers’ trolleys and barrows. The drawing of angler pairs was carried out along the drawing of swims pairs. Steve Simmonds’ list of swim rankings for Cart and Stemps was used so that a pair having a high ranking swim in one lake would have a lower ranked swim in the other lake. The two anglers in each pair then deciding who fished on what lake.

Fishing on peg 14 on Stemps was Kevin Dowell who caught 2 carp on the feeder along with approximately 10 pound of skimmer bream to weigh in 14-2-8 to win the match.

Also on Stemps on peg 1 was Steve Speller who caught 4 carp to weigh in 13-8-0 to finish second. Steve finishing the match this week with all his pole sections intact.

Paul Ward caught 11-10-12 of skimmers and roach on the pole to finish third. Again Paul was on Stemps, fishing peg 7.

On Cart Vince Herringshaw (peg 23) was first with 6-12-0 followed by Mike Kitchener (peg 16) in second with 3-15-8. On the day Stemps fished better than Cart with all eight anglers catching more than 5 pounds of fish.

The Pairs Tankard was won by Kevin Dowell (1st on Stemps ) and Steve Hanson (3rd on Cart)
