Match Report

The evening series of matches started at Hurston Match Pond when 7 anglers turned up on a pleasant warm night. Keith and Kitch have done a great job of weed clearing on the match Lake and the fishery looked good with high hopes of some decent catches particularly as Keith had had a good bag of bream and carp in the previous week. However the anglers struggled with only one double figure bag but the catches were very varied with bream, carp, tench, goldfish, gudgeon, roach and rudd being caught.

In first place on peg 11 was Mike Kitchener who caught a mixed bag of carp, bream and tench to weigh in 19 – 0 – 0. Kitch fished maggot over groundbait to catch fish on the pole by the stump in that swim, over by the island and from the main track.

As I walked past Ray Huskisson on peg 5, he said he hated that peg but it turned out OK for Ray as he caught 2 tench and a carp to weigh in 9 – 5 – 0 and take second place.

Fishing peg 7 was Mick Greenway who caught a bream, a goldfish and a gudgeon, on the long pole, weighing 4 – 2 – 12 to come third
