Match Report
All the recent rain meant that Stemps and Cart are as full as I have ever seen them but at least this was the first Sunday for ages when it didn’t manage to rain all day. We had a bit of rain at the draw and while we set up but the match was essentially rain free. Numbers were low although we were also fishing a friendly against Portsmouth and District Angling Society. I know of at least one casualty to the firms Christmas do and perhaps there were others. So with only a total of 9 anglers we put 5 on Cart and 4 on Stemps. Notable as we were unloading was Alan from Portsmouth who felt something in the bottom of his boot, upending it and shaking it out revealed a mouse that had obviously crawled in but had succumbed – probably something to do with Alan’s feet!
On Stemps
Kevin Leighfield was hoping for either peg 1 or 15 when his hand went into the draw bag and out came 1 so he was very happy. Kevin fished with corn for most of the match and had a surprise tench along with 4 carp and some quality roach for an overall weight of 17 – 10 – 0 top weight on the day across the two lakes
Rab Butler drew peg 15 and was not that far behind Kevin he had 3 carp and again some quality roach for a total of 13 – 7 – 0
A long way back in third place was Alan Templeman (did the mouse get to him?). Alan was on peg 13 and with just one decent roach and a few bits and pieces he weighed in 1 – 8 – 8
