Match Report

All the recent rain meant that Stemps and Cart are as full as I have ever seen them but at least this was the first Sunday for ages when it didn’t manage to rain all day. We had a bit of rain at the draw and while we set up but the match was essentially rain free. Numbers were low although we were fishing a friendly against Portsmouth and District Angling Society. I know of at least one casualty to the firms Christmas do and perhaps there were others. So with only a total of 9 anglers we put 5 on Cart and 4 on Stemps. Notable as we were unloading was Alan from Portsmouth who felt something in the bottom of his boot, upending it and shaking it out revealed a mouse that had obviously crawled in but had succumbed,  probably something to do with Alan’s feet!

On Cart
Vince was drawn on the favoured peg 16 he started on the whip and caught some quality roach although he found he was bumping out of fish. After a while he switched to the carp rig on the pole and was rewarded almost immediately. Swapping between this two methods Vince caught 4 carp which along with about 5lb of roach gave him a total of 15 – 12 – 8 to easily win the lake

In second place Was Rod Legge from Portsmouth, Rod fished peg 19 down the middle with worm for 5 – 4 – 8 of quality roach.

In third off Peg 27 was Lorraine Talbot from Portsmouth who put together a mixed bag of 2 – 15 – 0.
