On a cold but dry Sunday 6 anglers turned up for Presidents Cup match held on the Hurston Match Pond. Expectations were not high as the pond had received a dose of melted snow on the previous day. Mike Kitchener had walked around the pond on the Saturday and seen some carp and bream moving around and this information was used to choose the pegs fished. On the day the fishing was worse than expected with only two anglers having bites and catching fish. It was the first time I had been at Hurston complex for some time and I was impressed with the work that Kitch and Keith had done. The wind can now blow through the ponds and hopefully will reduce the duckweed problem on the Tench Pond.In first place fishing Peg 8, which was also the Golden Peg, was Vince Herringshaw who caught a carp and perch weighing 3-1-12. It is rumoured that he did not even see a bite from the carp.

Up until the last 10 minutes Vince was the only one to catch a fish and then Mick Greenway caught a perch, fishing close up to the island. He was given a nominal 4 drams as the fish did not register on the scales.
