Match Report

The weather had been mild in the week prior to this match but unfortunately there was very heavy rain on the previous day and night which had filled up the lakes at Hurston Lane. Unfortunately it also put the fish down with only 4 carp and 3 tench along with an increased amount of silverfish being caught. We had 8 anglers fishing and pegged 4 on each side of the lake. It was good to see Kevin Leighfield fishing with us for the first time this year after his operation. Kevin is an acknowledged carp expert at Hurston and even he failed to catch one. All the carp were caught on the stream side swims. .

In first place, fishing on the first platform past the reed swim was Vince Herringshaw who caught 2 carp plus bits weighing 10-7-0. Vince caught the carp close to the island on the long pole using red maggot.

Fishing on the platform next to Vince was Mick Greenway who caught 2 tench, 1 carp and bits to weigh in 6-11-0 and take second place. He caught the tench and carp on krill pellets fished close to the island using the long pole.

In the reed swim was Emmanuel (Mr Tubertini) Filibel who was using light elastic and only managed to get out 1 of the 4 carp he hooked . This combined with a nice bream of about 2 pounds plus bits gave him a weight of 4-15-4 to take third place.
