Recently we have had a couple of incidents brought to our attention where members have slid down our river banks.
In the first incident a fellow member managed to grab the person before they actually disappeared into the river
In the other the member was less fortunate and ended up in the Rother, luckily someone was close and heard the incident and managed to pull the member out – many thanks Ian for your prompt action. The unfortunate member was later treated for hypothermia but has now made a full recovery.
These incidents show just how dangerous our river banks can be at this time of year and what can happen. Please take extra care when approaching the river and in particular when getting down into swims. Please see our handbook for a series of common sense precautions which we recommend you heed.
