Fittleworth Fish Passage

The Arun & Rother Rivers Trust (ARRT) are pleased to announce that a fish passage is to be built that will allow all fish to move freely round Fittleworth Mill which at present remains a major obstacle for coarse and small fish to traverse the river especially upstream during adverse conditions. This is a costly undertaking and has taken a considerable amount of time and effort but thanks to the generosity and co-operation of the mill owner, himself a keen angler plus funding from the Environment Agency work will commence this year once conditions allow.

The impact and benefits of this fish passage will allow them to travel the longest length of the Rother free of major obstacles from Hardham through to Midhurst and is another step forward to conserve and improve the fish population, something I’m sure anyone who fishes the Rother will welcome.
