Rother Sea Trout for Andy

Andy Thomas Sea Trout
Andy Thomas who is the Conservation Officer in the South for the Wild Trout Trust and a club member was delighted when he landed this healthy Sea Trout from the Rother at Shopham.

Andy estimated it’s weight at between 6 and 7 lbs and is a just reward for the hard work and effort he has, and continues to do for our Club and the Arun & Rother Rivers Trust. Andy also gives our Club valuable advice on fishery management areas in particular at our Hurston Lane Fishery.

When the Riffle was first proposed at Shopham it was to Andy the Rivers Trust turned in order to design and get this work carried out in conjunction with Ses Wright the Project Officer. This Riffle is now establishing itself as a good spawning area for all varieties of fish.

Whilst working at Shopham Andy proposed improving the Sutton Stream which is half a mile down from Shopham Bridge and also the Burton Mill stream which we are all familiar with. A fish refuge was built upstream from the bridge and it is so nice to see Andy catching this Sea Trout in an area he helped to restore and improve.
