Unusual Catch At Fittleworth
After catching several small Perch, Dace and Roach during a recent session on the Rother at Fittleworth member Eric Whisson got a real surprise when his next bite resulted in him landing the 11oz Flounder pictured below. Eric was using earth worms as bait not the usual lug or rag worm normally associated with Flounder fishing.
Whilst it is not unusual to catch Flounders in the Arun, sometimes several miles from the sea, it is the first one we have heard of from the Rother. Proof if it was needed that the new fish pass at Hardham is working. If anyone else catches one or any other unusual catch from the Rother please let us know, we’re sure the EA would be interested to hear of any unusual catches too.
