Work Party – Hurston Lane Fishery

We have another work party this Sunday 6th September at Hurston Lane Fishery where we hope to resume the clearing of weed from the Carp Pond and also do some general maintenance around the site. We have been encouraged by the positive feedback we are getting from members who have fished the ponds since the previous two work parties and are hopeful that we can get a good turnout to this one.

We aim to start about 8am and finish about lunchtime again, if you can only come for a couple of hours then please do so, every little helps. Refreshments will be provided. If you have any useful tools such as a rake, fork, bow saw or loppers etc. then please bring them along.

One member who attended the workparties and has since reaped the rewards from the weed clearing in the Carp Pond is Terry Thomas who is pictured below with a mint double figure Common. Terry landed the fish on Sunday 30th August using a size 12 hook which he had baited with a secret bait formula he is currently field testing. We can’t promise that everyone who attends the work party will be rewarded with such a nice fish but we do think you’ll find it an enjoyable and friendly experience, so please come along if you can.
