Attendance at the second of the Petworth Park friendly matches was even higher than the first match. We saw the notable return of three old friends – unfortunately two of them blanked but at least one was up in the points. Welcome back to Phil (more about Phil later), Roy and Graham and we hope to see you at a few more matches in the future.

Roger – one of the park experts recommended that we leave out the deep pegs in the middle of the roadside bank and fish the top section around the lilies and round the bottom bend to the islands. So these were the areas we pegged

Roger was pegged in the bottom corner near the concrete outfall and put together a weight of 16 – 12 – 8 consisting of three bream, two tench and two crucian carp.
Keith Hughes was pegged between the islands and landed two tench – but wait for it – lost another one, these together with skimmers and bits made up 9 – 15 – 0 good enough for second place.
In third place pegged just after the lilies was John Savage who had 8 – 3 – 0 consisting mainly of 4 crucian carp together with a few skimmers and bits.

We had two early leavers, John Williams was beset by a family consisting of a rather large mother and children. The children decided to take a swim in John’s peg and bearing in mind the size of the mother John decided that discretion was the better part of valour and retired to a local watering hole.
Phil Tubb being fishless at 1 o clock announced that he was going to pack up slowly, when challenged that he did not know any other way his reply was unrepeatable – welcome back Phil don’t you just miss the banter!
