Match Report
We had a little experiment on the Arun at Watersfield for this match. Traditionally we have always fished from the top of the tide down but on this occasion we fished either side of low tide. Although no bream were caught (but Steve Speller did lose one) everyone one had a decent net of silver fish. Our numbers were such that we managed to all fit in the top section.
Mick (trout) Greenway was a couple of pegs below the outlet and caught roach steadily throughout the match trotting a stick float for an excellent 6 – 3 – 0 for 1st place.
In 2nd and also fishing a float was Steve Simmonds from the peg just above the trees upstream of the outlet he had a mixed bag of roach, dace, perch and chublets for 5 – 9 – 0.
Mark (canal) Pantling was just above the outlet and alternating between pole, rod and feeder he had a good mixed bag of 5 – 5 – 8.
All in all I think the experiment was a success and we might look at fishing other matches like this which will hopefully mean we get to use the Arun a bit more.
