I don’t think the rain all through Saturday did our friendly match against Portsmouth & District Angling Society at Hurston Lane Fishery any favours. The silver fish, which are normally very prolific, were slow in coming and we did not see much activity from the carp.

Three of the PDAS anglers managed to get lost on the way to the match but still just about made it for the draw.

Keith Hughes drew the last peg on the roadside and had one small carp a few bits and just to add a little bit of variety an eel of 1 – 10 – 0 in a total net of 5 – 10 – 8.

Mark Pantling was the end peg on the riverside and was the only person to find any of the quality roach that we normally see he managed to put together a nice bag of 5 – 6 – 0 for second place.

For numbers of fish no one got near Dave Coombs of Portsmouth who was on the swim in front of the bench, he knocked out small fish all through the match for his 4 – 11 – 0.
