Match Report

This first leg match was fished on what turned out to be a lovely sunny day for a change. As usual, all the anglers were looking forward to this venue especially as reports had indicated the lake has been fishing well over the last month, and unlike previous matches when the weather had at times been atrocious, the lake did indeed fish well during the match.

The first three anglers on the day were all pegged in a line in the deeper water on the road bank where they enjoyed a three peg battle all day, at times matching fish for fish. But with a couple of extra fish caught in the final stages of the match, first place went to Roger Wheetman who was drawn just past the first tree after the concrete block swim. Roger caught twelve Bream and one Tench plus a few bits, on the pole at about twelve metres.

Second was Kevin Leighfield, drawn on the concrete block, who had ten Bream and a Pike of about four pounds. All Kevins fish fell to the feeder, fished at about 35 yards.

Third was John Williams, drawn in between Roger and Kevin, who caught nine Bream and some bits all on the pole.

The second leg of the Kirby Bott Cup is to be fished at the same venue on October 28th.
