There had been several bouts of heavy rain in the week prior to the match and this had seemed to have flushed out the river. The forecast for matchday was strong winds and heavy rain but we were fortunate as the wind was not as strong as forecast and in fact there were several calm spells.

The rain was not as heavy as forecast and only lasted for a short period although as we were weighing in the rain started again. The heavy rain turned up as we were leaving the car park. We were short of numbers for this match as several of the regulars on holiday and one turned up without his keepnet. Again Watersfield showed what a good match length it is with good numbers of roach and dace being caught along with odd skimmers, eels and perch.

In first place was Vince Herringshaw who was fishing the Mint Swim. He started off on the whip using a bolo before switching over to the bolo and lollipop on the pole. He caught a large number of small roach and dace along with two large skimmers on maggot to weigh in 10-0-0.

Mick Greenway was fishing the swim that Glen had won the last match from. He started out on a light lollipop on the pole but struggled to find fish. He decided to try out the pole feeder system described by Steve Simmonds in the last emailer. This seemed to work well as he found larger roach and dace along with two large skimmers, eels and perch on maggot to weigh in 7-15-0
