Match Report

This was the fifth and final leg of the Kirkby Bott trophy on the River Arun at Watersfield. The river had fined down after heavy rain during the previous week. However the anglers were greeted with a heavy frost on match day making the river baks look like a picture out of Mr Crabtree’s Fishing Book.

Unusually for matches on the Arun there was little or no wind and bright sunshine. The match was originally extended by an hour over the times in the handbook. However after no one had had a bite, despite several different techniques being used, the match was ended at the orignal finishing time.

Overall the Kirkby Bott trophy was won by Vince Herringshaw (32points) from Keith Hughes (30 points)
