This was the second leg of the LEC Cup and was fished from Hunston up towards Chichester. I decided to start pegging from where the gate comes into the water on the opposite side of the canal as this stretch normally produces some skimmers. However Steve Simmonds had fished this stretch during the week and had had a good catch of roach fishing opposite the trees but very few skimmers.  He fished in the same peg in the match and really struggled catching under one pound of fish. The weather forecasters had been giving variable forecasts for the day with heavy rain and high winds predicted for all day. In reality we had an hour of very heavy rain with high wind gusts.

The boats were very active and these tended tp put the fish off with most of the fish being caught before the boats started running.Fishing on the end peg opposite the gate was Mike Kitchener (pictured below) who caught 3 – 15 – 8 of roach on maggots and pinkies fished on the long pole.Copyright Petworth & Bognor Angling Club West Sussex

Vince Herringshaw was fishing on the other end peg and used a comibination of whip and long pole plus bread punch to catch 3 – 2 – 8 of roach and rudd.

Keith Hughes was fishing next to Kitch and 2 – 0 – 4 of roach but did include a couple of skimmers.

After two rounds of the LEC cup Keith is leading with 18 points followed by Vince with 17 points.
