Match Report
We were back on the towpath side for the final leg of the LEC cup. The weather was much better than on our last outing and we all thought that it should fish well as the weather was generally milder. There were a lot of other people fishing on the roadside and a couple up the top end on our side. Perhaps it was an indicative that they all seemed to be struggling.
From the start all of us seemed to have a fish in the net after the first few minutes but but then they became quite sporadic and you had to search for your fish.
Rab fishing the pole at fairly close quarters seemed to keep them going more than most and ended up with a mixed bag of skimmers and roach for 4 – 10 – 0 and first place.
To Rab’s left and fishing the waggler about a third of the way across was Vince. He found little runs of 3 or 4 fish and then had to wait for the next ones to come along. With 4 – 2 – 0 Vince took 2nd place.
Steve S fished two lines. A waggler about a third of the way across, he couldn’t go any further because he had the staging in front of him and a whip line at about 3 metres. Neither line was particularly productive but by alternating between the two he managed to put together 2 – 10 – 0 for 3rd place.
It was good to see John Sheppard back on the match scene although he said that he works quite a few weekends now so won’t be turning up for that many matches.
Over the 4 legs of the LEC cup Steve S just managed to hold onto the first place with 36 points, Vince was just behind on 35 and Rab had 34.
