Bethwins Upper Pond – The match at Bethwins continued the theme for this summer with rain showers throughout the day. The two new pegs on the Lower Pond were finished off by digging out and levelling the pegs for seatboxes. A new peg had been created on the Upper Pond and this gave us room for the 8 anglers who attended the match. The anglers were unsure what to expect in this match- would the carp show in the Lower Pond as they had in one of the previous matches? would the tench show in the Upper Pond ? and would the perch turn up in the numbers seen in previous matches.
Rab Butler concentrated on the perch using the pole and caught approximately 7lb of these along with a carp and a tench to weigh in 13-6-0 for first place.
Keith Hughes fishing the method caught one carp of 6-0-0 for second place. However he lost 3 other carp which would have been enough to win the match.
The ‘Perchmeister’, Steve Simmonds had an off day catching just under three pound of perch but lost 8 carp fishing the new peg.
