Yet again a dry day at Bethwins we are obviously in for a good summer! Vince had put together a kit to re-build the top stile, so we went across the field with timber and tools strapped to our trolleys. With everyone mucking in we soon had a nice new stile which will hopefully last us a few years.
We only had two of us on the bottom lake and very different tactics were adopted Steve S deciding to go for the perch on the whip and Dick preferring to chance his luck for the carp.
With a quiet first half hour Steve wondered whether he had made the right decision but then the perch started to show and came fairly quickly until the last hour of the match when they became very intermittent. However 13 – 6 – 0 was enough to beat Dick.
Concentrating on big baits in the margin, Dick unfortunately found that the carp on this lake remain uncaught in matches. He had one bite which resulted in one perch hanging onto a carp sized pellet for 0 – 1 – 0.
