The Rother looked ideal to the 8 anglers who turned up for the first match in the evening river series. It was good to see Steve Simmonds fishing his first evening competition for years as his work commitments have decreased. As usual the match was a walk off and the anglers set off with high expectations.
In first place fishing his first match with the club was Dave Clark who had a mixed bag of dace, roach and gudgeon to weigh in 2-13-0.
In second place with a small pike and dace and roach, weighing 1-11-8, caught on the waggler and stick float was Vince Herringshaw.
Mike Kitchener got an early draw and set off to fish the swim that he caught fish in last year. However this time he did not catch any chub but caught 1-9-4 of roach and dace on the float to finish third.
