The last leg of our evening river series for the Moss Cup was fished at Coultershaw. Turnout for the evening matches has been disappointing to date. We had low numbers at Fittleworth possibly due to imminent thunder storms. At Shopham it rained for the first two hours of the match. At least at Coultershaw the weather was fair and stable and it brought another couple of anglers out. It was good to see John Sheppard although he did pack up early as he was not feeling well and Keith managed to escape work early enough to get to the match.

Steve Simmonds went to the peg that has won this match for the last couple of seasons and it did not disappoint, trotting down the middle of the river, fishing a single maggot over hemp and caster he put together a good bag of dace with a few roach, perch and gudgeon and two good sized chub for 16 – 2 – 0 to win the match.

Ray Huskisson fished around halfway along the first straight and had three chub, one of a reasonable size and two small ones, these together with some roach, dace and gudgeon totalled 6 – 8 – 0 for second place.

Keith Hughes despite the presence of cattle in the field (Keith does not like cattle!) decided to fish the cattle drink at the start of the stretch. They did visit him during the match but he managed to persuade them to go away. Keith was hoping to find some bream unfortunately they did not put in an appearance but his mixed bits net of 2 – 9 -4 was enough for third place.

Overall the Moss Cup was won by Steve Simmonds with 29 points.
