Match Report
Normally we only have three matches in the evening Rother series but there was a request to add some extra evening matches. Hence an extra match at Fittleworth for the last leg of the Moss Cup was included in the calendar. Again it was another mild, fine and sunny evening but not as warm as the first match at Fittleworth. Also we had had some rain in the previous week and this meant that the river was up between 6 and 12 inches and also there was increased flow.
In first place was Mick Greenway who was fishing the same swim as he had for the first match. He had learnt from the first match and fished the stick float using maggot to catch dace, roach and two chub of about a pound each. This gave him a total weight of 9-15-0.
Keith Hughes was in second place and he was fishing the swim, that Steve Simmonds had cut out in the last match, opposite the market board. He caught dace, roach, perch and a skimmer to weigh in 6-5-0.
Steve simmonds fished the swim after the throat swim and weighed in 4-4-0 of dace and roach.
The final result for the Moss Cup was very close with a win for Steve (35 points) from Mick (34 points)
