Match Report
The first round of this year’s pairs saw us at the Granary on a very warm and sunny day. With reports from the bailiffs saying the Carp had spawned earlier in week hopes were high for a few bites. After the main draw and the draw for pairs we set off to our pegs using the whole lake. Apart from a few shoals of Rudd not a lot seemed to be moving around and after the first couple of hours only Steve in peg 4 had caught a couple of small Carp and it was proving to be a bit of a battle to get a bite.
It was back to the drawing board for most of us and things did improve in the afternoon and by the end all but one had had a Carp or two and some had done better than that!
In first place (no surprise) was Keith with 41lb. Pete Burgess was second with 24lb 8oz and in third was Steve worth with 20lb 8oz
As for the pairs;
With maximum points (19) in first place were Keith and Pete with a combined weight of 65lb 8oz
Gary and Steve were second with 12 points and a combined weight of 26lb 7oz
Third were Cody and Kevin Leighfield (a welcome returnee after a few years away) 10points and 22lb 9oz
Fourth place went to Graham and John with 8 points
Fifth were Mick and Pet Carrol with 5 points
