We had an excellent turn out at Petworth Park on a day when the weather could not quite make up its mind what to do. We have heavy rain for a while, then some sunshine and some quite strong winds. However the bream did show in force particularly for the anglers in first and second position who were at opposite ends of the road bank which was a bit surprising as we normally expect them to come from the middle of the section.
Steve Speller was pegged virtually at the end of the road bank and fished the feeder. Catching bream steadily throughout the match with the odd little fish here and there Steve ended up with 15 bream for 44 – 15 – 0 to comfortably take first place.
At the opposite end Steve Hanson employed similar tactics but only had 7 bream for 21 – 11 – 0.
Vince was pegged behind the first island and had a very nice mixed bag with tench, crucians, a couple of small bream and a few bits for a total of 18 – 6 – 0 for third place.
