Match Report
On a dry overcast night 9 anglers turned up for the first match of the 2014/2015 season. The match was scheduled to end at 9-15pm but most people packed in earlier as it was difficult to see your float. The dark conditions made weighing a challenge and is also the reason there are no photos. The Match Pond has now been pegged and this makes it easier organising the draw and also in reporting the matches, so that people know where fish are being caught. Four pegs (1,5,6 and 7) were put in on the river side and five pegs (8,10,11,13 and 14) on the road side.
The match turned out to be one of two halves with the top weight on the river side being 2-9-0 whilst all the weights on the road side were above 3 pounds and include the three top weights. The bream and carp seemed to be more interested in spawning and weights were lower than expected. A golden peg was introduced this season but was not won in this match.
In first place was Steve Hanson who was fishing on peg 13 and had a weight of 14-9-9. The pole caught catch included 2 carp caught on paste close to island along with bream caught on pellet down the middle track.
John Williams had golden peg number 11 and come close to winning but he did lose several carp that would have put him in first place. He caught 2 carp along with bits weighing 7-9-0on the pole fishing pellet close to the island.
In third place was Steve Speller pole fishing peg 14 who had 2 carp and bits weighing 5-12-12.
