Match Report
I have been reminded by all and sundry that I have yet to put a match report up for 2nd of January. Well for those who have not heard and those that have heard a rumour – YES I did go for a swim in Stemps and YES I had to be pulled out. So I have further increased my reputation that I am the Match Secretary that likes to get up close and personal with our waters and I seem to particularly like doing it in the winter! Anyway you don’t want to read about my swimming you want to know how we got on in the match.
Firstly there was a good turnout I assume everyone was glad to get out for a few hours, so we had an almost full lake. Secondly although there were no carp caught (and I’m nor sure that anyone really went for them) there were plenty of silver fish and the weights were quite close.
In first place with a 5 – 2 – 0 net of mainly roach was John Sheppard on peg 2. John fished most of the match down the middle on his trusty whip.
Despite my dunking I managed second place from peg 6. Starting off on the whip and finally moving out to about 8 metres on the pole for a mixed net of roach and skimmers weighing in at 4 – 10 – 0.
Keith Hughes was on peg 10 and alternated between the bush and open water for a mixed bag of 3 – 8 – 8 for third place.
