A face that many match anglers recognise joined us for his first experience of a Petworth and Bognor match. Steve Worth who is more familiar in his Rother colours joined our club when he heard about the fishing in Petworth Park. Having pleasure fished it on a number of occasions with success Steve decided to give it a go in one of our matches and it was pretty tight.
Steve Speller who seems to have Petworth Park pretty much sewn up on the feeder this season showed us that he can do it on the pole as well. Steve had 5 bream for a total of 19 – 4 – 0 and first place.
The aforementioned Steve Worth was very close with an all feeder and worm caught haul of 18 – 11 – 0.
It was good to see Dave Herbert get another place in one of our matches. Dave and Alan having been coming along to the occasional match over the last year and have obviously started to get to know our waters and the match tactics to employ. Dave had 11 – 6 – 0 for third place and Alan was pretty close with 9 – 5 – 0.
Curiosity of the day was Rab’s fish of 4 – 6 – 0 which he felt could be a crucian, however those that have seen the picture pretty much all reckon it is either a crucian / common cross or a ‘brown’ goldfish. You can make your own minds up below….
