An evening which was supposed to be a bit overcast turned out to be very bright. The same six as the previous week turned out. The match was a walk off as last week and Duncan’s golden fingers prevailed again as he drew number one.
Ron drew five and again decided to go for a hike with Duncan carting his gear behind him. Earlier in the evening Duncan had cut out a likely looking swim quite a way down stream which he thought he might take and Ron set off in that direction. However, Ron decided it was not good enough for him and went even further down stream. Well all his walking (and Duncan’s!) did pay off. Ron found three good sized Bream and some bits and pieces for 11lb 3oz 8dm and first place. He lost a big fish that he thinks might have been a Carp and also had to wrestle with a Pike in his swim – all in all an exciting evening for Ron.
Duncan having drawn one declared that he would take the Burton Mill Stream swim and had a good evening with a mixed bag of Roach, Dace and Chublets etc. unfortunately his 8lb 5oz 12dm was only enough for second place.
Alan fished opposite the upstream fish refuge trotting down to the trees and had a small Chub together with Roach and Dace for 4lb 2oz and third place.
It was very good to see a number of Chub in the 8oz to 1lb bracket come out from all along the stretch.
Currently the series series is a family affair with Duncan leading the way from Ron by just one point.
