Match Report
It was good to see a couple of new faces for this match. Ron & Duncan Elms had been at Fittleworth last week to watch the weigh in and expressed an interest in fishing some of our matches and duly turned up this week.
Cody drew one and was off like a rabbit to the favoured Burton Mill stream peg, drawing six Steve Simmonds was surprised to get into the spot just downstream of the bridge and was even more surprised to find that it had been cut out already, he later found out the Coultershaw bailiff Martin Cornish had fished it a few days previously.
Steve fished the stick float and had one Chub but lost two others and this together with a decent number of Dace, Roach, a couple of Gudgeon and a Perch was enough for a top weight of 5lb 10oz. Cody used the stick float for the first part of the match and managed to assemble a reasonable mixed net. For the end of the session he went onto the tip and unfortunately missed two big wrap round bites, however his 2lb 11oz was sufficient for second place.
How did our newcomers fair; well Ron chose quite a snaggy swim a bit below the Burton Mill swim and had a few silver fish on the float, like Cody he decided to give the tip a go and had a similar experience with a number of wraps rounds but was unable to connect. Duncan chose the swim opposite the fish refuge on the first bend upstream and showed that he is one to look out for with a 2lb 9oz mixed net and third place.
