Eight of us started the match but only seven were there at the end, Jon decided to go home early. We all thought that we might be in with a chance without Cody being there. But as Vince was reeling in his first fish before most of us had even wetted a line it looked as if the match was only going in one direction and this proved to be the case.

Vince was drawn of peg 10 and that first fish was a Carp from the island, his bait literally hit the water and was taken. Vince had another five Carp from either the inside or the island and also lost a couple. These along with some reasonable Skimmers and Roach on the whip line gave him a weight of 21lb exactly which was easily good enough for first place.

Mick Greenway was drawn on peg 13 and after his first test cast to the island ended up in the tree above him he decided that a bit of pruning was in order prior to the start. As it happened he only caught a couple of Skimmers from the Island. Most of his weight came from the inside, with a couple of interesting fish in his catch. Firstly an old warhorse of a Carp which he did very well to get out as at one stage it disappeared under his platform, we thought, never to be seen again but he managed to get it out. The other fish was a Crucian Carp, looking at it carefully it did not appear to be a brown goldfish or cross but a true Crucian, the first time we have seen one of these from the pond for a very long time. These together with a few small Roach gave Mick a total of 12lb 11oz for second place.

Graham White drew peg 1 and we all thought he would be the man to beat, but a run of lost Carp meant that with just two in the net together with a few Roach he could only muster 11lb for third place
