This match was originally scheduled for the Rother at Coates but sensibly it was decided that it was best to move away from the river (which was barely in the banks with flooded fields behind), however, Hurston proved a bit of a challenge for all but one angler.
With all the rain we have been having the banks were pretty waterlogged and it was a bit of a haul to get to any of the pegs, apart from peg 1 by the bench. In the absence of Cody, (who apparently stuck a weather eye out from under his duvet and declared a no show from himself due to rain) Steve Simmonds drew the number which would be the Golden peg from the bag – peg 1. When the main draw took place Vince drew peg 1, so no walk, no mud and the chance of a golden peg bonus! Vince then proceeded to catch (and lose) fish all day, however at the final reckoning what he lost was immaterial as he had more than enough to treble everyone else’s weights combined and the Golden Peg was well and truly won with 16lb 12oz.
Graham was on the normally favoured hot peg at this time of year – peg 5 and although he connected with a few carp he struggled to get them out apart from one which together with a small perch gave him 2lb 7oz for second place. Keith was on peg 10 which is again one of the favoured pegs at this time of year, he missed a carp early on and despite trying did not see a sign of any more. reverting to silver fish he did mangage to put together 1lb 7oz for third place.

Vince was victorious from peg one while Graham did enough from peg five for second
