Match Report

We fished our first ever match on the Coates Castle stretch of the Rother and not knowing the water and where the swims are we decided that we should walk off
This is a long stretch of the river and the water stretches both upstream and down stream of the point where we got to the water. Most of us went down stream but a couple did go up.Vince who opted to walk the furthest down stream was rewarded with the top weight of the day, his catch of 7 – 4 – 0 was by far the best of the day and included a bream of around 4 lb.

Rab was one of the two that decided to go upstream and he had a small chub and a couple of other bits for 0 – 15 – 12 and 2nd place. Keith had a few bits for 0 – 11 – 4 and 3rd place

Where did the noble Match Secretary come, I hear you ask. Well having selected a lovely looking swim with a nice run down to a bush I trotted and held back at the bush for 4 hrs before my first fish – a minnow. I then caught the entire family, a brother and three sisters and that was my lot for the day, enjoyable none the less!
