Not wishing to be outdone by his brother Ian (see below) Adam Duffy set out to land one of our specimen Rother Barbel.

Adam achieved his goal in style with this superb pristine Barbel of 13lb 6oz, which like his brothers is a new personal best for the species.

Ben Sharman stuck it out on a recent wet and windy session on the Arun at Watersfield and was rewarded with this superb 5lb 7oz Chub

The fish which is a new PB for Ben was caught using standard legering tactics with pellet as hookbait.

Having had an unsuccessful Pike trip to the River Arun at Watersfield rather than just going home Ian Duffy switched his attention to the Rother in the hope of catching one of it’s specimen Barbel.

He was certainly glad he made that spontaneous decision because within thirty minutes of setting up in his chosen swim his rod bent right round and after a good ten minute fight which tested his tackle to the limit he landed this 14lb 1oz PB Barbel .

Drew Allan and his dad Alastair did not let the recent wet weather dampen their enthusiasm when they had a recent session at The Granary.

Despite getting soaked to the skin they both enjoyed catching some healthy looking carp.

Gordon Bolton caught this PB 12lb 10oz barbel during a recent session on the Rother with fishing buddy Nelson Keet. It was Gordon’s second barbel of the day after catching one of 6lb 3oz from the first cast.

Both were caught on Gordon’s own formula paste on a size 12 hook and were witnessed by Nelson who had 3 chub and a carp in the same session.

Ben caught the stunning looking 10lb 14oz specimen using standard legering tactics with a safety clip which meant when it went through some snags all he lost was his lead and not his fish.

Ben also had several chub to nearly 5lb in the same session.

John Beales had this 4lb Tench on his latest visit to our Hurston Lane Fishery.

John caught the fish on a leger rod using sweetcorn as hookbait.

Ollie Kitchener age 7 caught this carp at Petworth Park whilst fishing with his Dad, Club Bailiff Mike Kitchener.

Ollie was using a pole fishing for silvers with a light setup and elastic when the carp struck.

After a mammoth effort and what seemed like forever they managed to net it.

Dad Mike estimated the weight of the carp to be 6-7lb and said Ollie was one happy boy.

After the Sunday morning work party at Hurston Lane Fishery, bailiff Dan Bolton decided to have a couple of hours fishing on the Tench Pond instead of going straight home.

The disturbance of the work party didn’t appear to have affected the fishing because after catching a few Rudd his red maggot hookbait was picked up by this superb 5lb tench.

A just reward for your hard work Dan, well done!

Phillip Blunsum had this Club Record equalling Barbel of 18lb 6oz at Watersfield just before the end of the season when the river had fined down after all the flooding.

It was a warm evening and the temperatures were rising when the specimen picked up his double 12mm pellet and paste hookbait.
