Results Of The Barbel Challenge In Aid Of The ABF

The team of Barbel Society anglers who organised and fished this sponsored challenge in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund managed to get doubles off 9 of the 14 rivers they fished. They landed 15 doubles in total plus numerous smaller fish, the only river they didn’t get barbel from was the mighty lower Severn.

They always knew they were in for a fail on the Arun, our own die hard locals only get 2-3 barbel a year but after only an hours fishing Petworth and Bognor Angling Club Member Dave Chambers, who joined them on the challenge for the Southern rivers, had a cracking double in the net. This was Dave’s first Barbel from the Arun after many attempts so it was even more pleasing to do it in aid of such a good cause.

Petworth and Bognor Angling Club are proud to have had one of our venues chosen for this charity challenge and are pleased to have donated a cheque for £100 on behalf of our members to the team of anglers for the Army Benevolent Fund.
