Robert Penfold

It is with great regret that the club announce the death of Robert (Bob) Penfold.

Bob who died on Saturday 4th May 2019 was originally a member of Petworth Angling Club we don’t know exactly when he joined but speaking to Roy Baker who joined the club over 40 years ago Bob was an established member then. In his younger days Bob was a keen matchman and fished many club and interclub matches. He joined the Petworth Angling Club committee and became Treasurer a position he held for many years.

Twelve years ago Bob embraced the amalgamation of Petworth Angling Club with Bognor Regis and District Freshwater Angling Club to form our Current club Petworth & Bognor Angling Club and was made an honorary member of the new club for his previous services to Petworth Angling Club.

Bob particularly enjoyed his river fishing and like many of our members the Rother was his favourite and he had a particular affection for Fittleworth.

His family have informed us that his funeral will be held at Worthing Crematorium on Friday 31st May 2019 with the service starting at 1.40pm. Anglers and particularly those that knew Bob are welcome to attend.
