Match Report

We had fished the first leg of the Daniels cup on Cart, but as our last 2 Walberton matches have been on Stemps I decided that we would use Cart again. We had a decent turnout of 9 and I tried to spread them round the lake a bit with 3 on each side 1 on the near end and a couple on the far end.

John Sheppard drew peg 22 close to the stream and I reckoned he would do well, however when he delved into bag John found that for some reason he had left a section of pole behind, so had to fish shorter that he would have liked. This seemed to have been to his advantage as John brought almost 6lb of really good quality roach to the scales, which was sufficient for 1st place.

Talk about lucky – Glenn Riley who having never fished Walberton before came over in the week and fished peg 27. Then guess what he drew – of course – peg 27. Glen put his weekday experience to good effect and a mixed bag of 5lb was good for 2nd place.

Rab and John W couldn’t be separated for 3rd place, both bringing 3 – 2 – 0 to the scales, Rab had mainly roach with a couple of better fish and John had lots of bits but failed to find any of the skimmers that can normally be found in his peg.

With a 2nd place in the first leg and joint 3rd in this leg Rab wins the Daniels Cup
