Match Report

First was Steve Jeffery who was drawn on Peg one which was next to the reeds on the east bank. Steve’s first put in next to the reeds, resulted in a Carp of about two pounds being brought to the net after a tussle in the reeds using 0.18mm line and an 18 elastic. As per usual the reeds did not fish again for about half an hour but he could tell when the fish had returned when the reeds started to knock. Throughout the match Steve caught five Carp and lost five more in the reeds. Whilst waiting for the Carp he caught small bits on the whip.

Second was John Williams, fishing peg three which was on the end of the island on the east bank. John opted to fish only for Carp, as he thought these would be needed to win the match. Unfortunately John’s swim only produced one proper Carp bite which resulted in a fish being brought to the net, this one fish accounted for all of his weight.

Third was John Savage, who drew Peg eight which was situated on the reeds on the first peg on the west bank. After losing a Carp on the pole, John opted to fish a feeder up against the reeds and landed one Carp and two small rudd for his total.
