March 2017

This cracking 11lb 15oz Rother barbel caught by Club Treasurer Martin Cornish at the tail end of the 2016/17 season illustrates what potential specimens lie ahead for our river anglers next season.

February 2017

David Bond is pictured here with a nice Rother Chub, one of several he has had this season from our Fittleworth and Shopham stretches of the Rother.

David was using a cheese paste to lure this and many of his other catches this season.

January 2017

Brian Hooper caught this Sea Trout from Shopham on breadflake whilst fishing for Chub, it weighed just under 4lb. Brian wasn’t sure if it was a Sea Trout as ‘she’s stunningly marked – nothing like the sea trout pics on google.

December 2016

Jack Winslade with a 14lb 1oz pike he landed on a recent session on the River Rother

December 2016

Chris Hayes had a right good battle on his hands when this superb pike picked up his bottom fished deadbait whilst fishing the Rother

Unfortunately Chris was on his own without scales so couldn’t weigh it but reckoned it could have been a twenty. He did manage to take a quick selfie before returning the fish.

August 2016

Whilst fishing for the elusive Arun Barbel Nelson Keet caught this 5lb plus Chub.
Apart from this specimen Chub Nelson has landed several Barbel to double figures and Carp to thirty pounds already this season.

July 2016

Coultershaw Bailiff Martin Cornish had this pristine looking 7lb 11oz Barbel on a recent visit to the river. The fish was caught at midday and luckily angling buddy Colin Bridger was on hand to take the photo.

Martin also had a 3lb 9oz Chub earlier in the session.

Although there are numerous small Rudd in The Granary which is why we’ve introduced some Perch to control the numbers there are also a few bigger ones too.

A delighted looking young Seth Oglethorpe is pictured with one of the better ones caught on a recent visit to the venue.

July 2016

Chris Hayes banked this new PB Barbel of 12lb 1oz on his latest visit to the River Rother.

Chris used a very light leger weight combined with a longer than usual hook length to trick the specimen into picking up his Halibut pellet hookbait.

Chris reckons for it’s weight it was the hardest fighting fish he has ever hooked.

July 2016

A joint effort resulted in this fine Common Carp for Ewan and Finley Hayes.

The boys were on their first visit to Hurston Lane Fishery with dad Chris. The fish was landed using a whip, no mean feat for such young anglers, they can’t wait now to go back
