Match Report
We had 12 anglers turn out for the end of season match at Beeding Manor. The weather had been warm during the previous week but Jeff, the owner thought it would be hard as the carp had only just started to feed again. As Jeff indicated it was a hard but even match with very few carp being caught. Although the weights would have been higher if all the carp hooked had been landed. Still all the anglers had a good breakfast and many even got a sun tan. We even had tea/coffee supplied at our pegs during the afternoon. The match weights were made up mainly of carp with very few silver fish caught.
Kevin Leighfield went round with the owner to peg out the lake and noticed on one peg that the carp were close in the margins. He used this information to win the match with six carp for 8-15-0 all caught in the marginal reeds on the pole, using a variety of baits.
In second place, Phil Tubb caught 2 carp and some silver fish on the pole in the middle of the track to weigh in 8-4-0.
Third place was taken by Keith Hughes, fishing on the island, who hooked enough carp to have won the match. However he lost 4 carp he hooked on the pole but managed to get 3 out on the feeder to weigh in 7-5-12
The entertainment was provided by John Williams who showed all his skills in getting a good sized carp in on light pole gear from the lily pad swim only to miss his keepnet when he tipped the fish out of his landing net.
