The BBQ match is held yearly to thank all the volunteers who attend work parties. The match is followed by a BBQ prepared by our secretary Steve. As usual the BBQ was excellent and thanks were given to Steve, the BBQ is much appreciated by all those who attended. Dan had been fishing on Cart on the previous day and had caught 30 carp so hopes were high for a good match. Unfortunately on match day the weights were low – Dan drew the same peg as he fished on the Saturday and only managed one carp. The weather started out warm and sunny but then it clouded over and the wind picked up.
Keith Hughes was fishing favoured Peg 16 and managed to get small carp weighing a total of 10-15-12 on his margin pole to win the lake. He lost a lot of other carp and will need to spend time making up some new rigs.
Dave Kinchett was fishing on Peg 23 and caught 4-15-8 of skimmers, silverfish and a small carp to come second.
Two of the regular matchman were on favoured pegs 1 and 15 and were expected to have the heaviest weights. This proved the case with Vince Herringshaw on Peg 1 catching carp weighing 18-14-0 to win the lake. In second place on Peg 15 was Ray Huskisson with a bag of carp weighing 13-0-4
