Match Report
Nine anglers turned up for the second leg of the Caine Cup including Ron Short who we have not seen for ages. The match was fished in the dry with it being very warm when the sun shone through. There was an intermittent wind blowing from right to left that was not strong enough to give problems pole fishing. Again the lake looked good with a high level and good colour. Conditions looked good but unfortunately the fishing did not match the weather, with the majority of anglers struggling and only three double figure weights were caught. John Williams who won the first leg struggled in this match, although fishing on the concrete slab and left early to visit the local watering hole. Eight anglers were pegged along the road bank with one pegged behind the island and agin the golden peg was not won.
Keith Hughes was fishing three pegs to the left of the concrete slab and used the long pole to catch 6 bream weighing 20-13-0 to win the match. He used dead maggots fished over groundbait.
In second place was Kevin Leighfield who was fishing to the right of Keith. Kevin used a groundait feeder with dead maggot on the hook to catch five bream weighing 10-10-0.
Mick Greenway was pegged behind the island and moaned about this draw as he had not done very well in that area previously. However he fished pellet and dead red maggot on the long pole over groundbait to catch one bream and several good sized skimmers to weigh in 10-3-0 and take third place.
