Again we had a reduced attendance of only 10 anglers and this time pegged 8 along the roadside with 2 behind the island, although one of those behind the island was not used. The day was dry and very warm with a variable wind. A few more of the water’s bream turned up in this match along with some nice sized tench but again the small silver fish were noticeable by their absence.
Vince Herringshaw took full advantage of fishing on his own behind the island to catch 6 tench and 3 bream along with a near seven pound carp to weigh in 31-11-8. He fished the long pole using meat and pellet to record this catch.
In second place was occasional visitor, Steve Worth who caught 5 bream on the pole using pellet or worm along with 1 bream on the feeder to weigh in 21-3-0. Steve was fishing on the roadside by the tree to the right of the concrete slab.
Steve was closely followed by Keith Hughes who had aching arms after fishing at 14.5 or 16 metres all day to catch 7 bream weighing 20-6-4 on pellet to finish third.
Overall the Caine Cup was won by Vince Herringshaw with 19 points followed by Mick Greenway with 16 points.
